2.5 Kg Opium Seized From 4 Iranians
Personnel from the General Department for Drugs Control (GDDC) have arrested 4 Iranians for trading in opium, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting security sources said personnel from the department acting on tip-off set a trap for one of the Iranians and caught him red-handed while selling the drugs to an undercover police agent who used the marked police money.
During initial interrogation the suspect admitted to the charge and led police to the three other compatriots. Police have seized from the men 2.5 kilos of opium and referred them to the Public Prosecution. The men admitted to bringing the drugs via the sea.
Meanwhile three Pakistani expatriates were arrested in Ahmadi area in possession of drugs. According to security sources, Ahmadi securitymen were patrolling the area at night when they suspected a vehicle with three occupants parked near a building. They approached the vehicle and checked the details of the three men to discover they are Pakistanis. Sensing their nervousness, securitymen checked the vehicle and found drugs. When questioned, the owner of the vehicle said the drugs belong to one of his friends. The three suspects were arrested and referred to the Drugs Control General Department for necessary legal action. Meanwhile, Ahmadi securitymen arrested a Kuwaiti citizen who is wanted by law for his involvement in three financial cases, in Fintas area. He was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
