19,995 Expats Had Their Work Permits Canceled

Work permits for 19,995 expats were cancelled during the period from January 12 until 7 March, official figures released by the Public Authority for Manpower, Al Rai daily reported.
In detail, the number of those whose work permits were cancelled for their final departure from the country reached about 6245 expats, while the work permits of 12,391 expats were cancelled following the loss of their residencies for they were stranded outside the country, in addition to 896 work permits were cancelled as the workers died, and 463 permits were transferred to family visas, domestic workers or self-sponsorship.

During that period, about 83 permits were transferred from the government sector to the private one, 602 work permits were issued, 404 work permits were transferred from family visas, and 106 work permits were cancelled for the expats shifted to the government sector.
