02 June 2021 Crime News

With the implementation of the law that bans outdoor works from the start of this month, 19 violations have been observed so far, according to the announcement of the Migrant Workers Committee of the Kuwait Society for Human Rights, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily toured a number of open work sites in several areas, and found laborers working in construction projects within residential areas during the work ban period from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Teams affiliated with the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) inspected some sites and projects to ensure compliance with the implementation of the ban.

It came in parallel to a media campaign titled “Humanity is a principle and a law” launched by PAM’s Public Relations Department, calling on all business owners to abide by the decision. Regarding the procedures followed to deal with such violations, informed sources explained that the inspection teams will first file a warning letter against the employer. If the violation continues, a fine of KD 100 to 200 will be imposed depending on the number of laborers found working at the site during the ban period. The relevant company’s file will be suspended, and the violators will be referred to the General Investigations Department for necessary action. The Migrant Workers Committee of the Kuwait Society for Human Rights announced that it had detected 19 violations so far. It urged the public to report violations and post photographs under the hashtag “#heat kills them” on social media, as well as send photos and videos to the designated number – 55643333.
