17,000 Passengers Are Traveling During Eid Holidays

Kuwait International Airport is once again very active with eager passengers booking flights to travel to spend the Eid Al-Fitr holidays abroad. The departure gates were crowded with passengers looking forward to spending their vacations in recreational, tourist, natural, and entertainment places, Al Rai daily reported.

The number of flights, departures and arrivals, during the 4-days Eid Al-Fitr holidays, which starts from today, Wednesday, until next Sunday, totaled 349 flights. The major destinations are Dubai, Doha, Riyadh, Bahrain, Turkey, Egypt and Beirut. It is expected that there will be 17,247 passengers traveling on departure flights during the holiday compared to the arrival of 6216 passengers.

Around 543285 passengers passed through Kuwait International Airport in the first quarter of this year, made up of 350,134 passengers who left the country onboard 3630 flights, while arrival flights reached 3628 flights that carried 193,151 passengers.

Kuwait Airport is still operating with a capacity of only 10 percent. Only citizens and their first-degree relatives are allowed to travel abroad and return.

As for expats, they are prohibited from entering the country, except for the categories that are excluded by the Corona Emergency Committee, such as medical personnel, oil sector workers and employees of Kuwait oil companies, as well as employees of judiciary, fatwa and legislation sector.
