15 Minutes For Tarawih Not Enough For The Worshipers

14 April 2021 Kuwait

Kuwait’s mosques revived the first night of Ramadan with Tarawih prayers last Monday night after the end of evening prayers in an atmosphere of faith spirituality and a clear commitment to health requirements, including wearing masks and bringing the rug to prayer, Al-Rai daily reported.

Despite the joy of the worshipers, many people complaint against reducing the time for Tarawih prayers. Tarawih is allowed for only 15 minutes which makes the imams hurry in performing the prayers and shorten their recitation. This has caused resentment of the elderly, who perform their prayers carefully.

They demand that the time should be increased to half an hour so that the worshipers can sense the spiritual atmosphere in Tarawih prayers.

Several worshipers also conveyed women’s displeasure over the decision to prevent them from performing the ritual prayer in mosques.
