134,000 Expatriates Left Kuwait In 2020, 52% Of Them Were Indians

The population of Kuwait decreased during 2020 by 105,694 people. The total population of Kuwait decreased by 2.2 percent, reaching 4, 670,000 thousand people at the end of the year 2020, Compared to 4, 776,000 people at the end of 2019, Al-Rai daily reported.

According to official figures issued by the Civil Information Authority, the number of expatriates residing in Kuwait during 2020 witnessed a decline of 4 percent. About 134,000  expatriates left between January and December 2020, bringing the total number of expatriates to 3 million and 210 thousand people in 2020 as compared to 3 million and 344 thousand people at the end of 2019.

The Indian community witnessed the largest percentage of expatriates leaving Kuwait. About 52% of the total departures during 2020 were Indians. The size of the community is decreased by 6.57 percent.

The Indian community was followed by its Egyptians, the second-largest community leaving Kuwait in 2020 with 22.5 percent of the total departures.

The Bangladeshi community came in third place, with 13,076 left in 2020, accounting for about 10 percent of the total departing expatriates. As for the Filipino community in Kuwait, 4.5% of the total departures were Filipinos.
