13,000 Wanted People Arrested
Officers from the Criminal Investigation General Department in the Interior Ministry have arrested about 13,000 people involved in 8,000 cases since the beginning of 2018 till date, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting knowledgeable sources. Sources revealed criminal sentences were imposed on 130 suspects; while 125 suspects were charged with armed burglary and theft which have become prevalent especially in areas where bachelors are residing.
Sources said 70 people of various nationalities were charged with murder and 65 were charged with attempted murder, affirming all suspects in murder cases have been arrested. Sources disclosed 50 individuals were arrested for involvement in 60 public fund embezzlement cases, indicating 20 were arrested for impersonating securitymen, fraud and swindling. Sources added theft cases topped the list of crimes – looting vehicles, houses and commercial shops.
Sources went on to say the ministry has intensified efforts to prevent crimes, especially thefts in residential areas. Sources said the ministry has adopted a comprehensive plan to dispatch security patrols and heighten security in coordination with all concerned security sectors. Sources added the number of cases referred to the Criminal Court doubled over the last year, including murder, theft, threat, brawls for various reasons, assault and suicide
