10 Mps Propose Special Session
Ten MPs have submitted a proposal to hold a special legislative session on Jan 12 to discuss the reports of the concerned committees on urgent bills as follows:
â– Report number nine of the Human Resources Development Committee about the bills on amending the Civil Service Law for filling up public sector posts and nationalizing public sector jobs;
â– Report number 53 of the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee about the bills on amending Penal Procedures Law number 17/ 1960;
â– Report number four of the Bedouns Affairs Committee about the bills on the rights of illegal residents (Bedouns);
â– Report number 79 of the Human Resources Development Committee on bills allowing employees to convert leave days into cash in case they are not allowed to take regular vacation to serve the public;
â– Report number 40 of the Education, Culture and Guidance Affairs Committee about the bills on amending Audio-Visual Law number 61/ 2006 and Publishing and Printing Law number 3/2006.
The MPs who signed the proposal include Khalid Al-Otaibi, Marzouq Al- Khalifa, Muhammad Al-Mutair, Al-SaifiMubarak Al- Saifi, Mubarak Al-Hajraf, Fares Al-Otaibi, Muhannad Al-Sayer, Hassan Jawhar, Thamer Al-Suwait and Shuaib Al-Muwaizri. They also suggested that voting on the above mentioned bills should be done during the proposed special session. MP Khalil Al-Saleh submitted a proposal to take certain measures in line with the regulations specified by the authorities tasked to deal with the increasing number of people infected with the new COVID-19 variant, omicron.
The lawmaker suggested cancellation of the fingerprint attendance system for employees, reduction of work hours, exempt employees with chronic diseases from reporting for work, implementation of online work system in public institutions, and exempt citizens from paying for the PCR test upon arrival from abroad.
Meanwhile, MP Marzouq Al-Khalifa forwarded queries to Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Ali Al-Musa about the steps that the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) took or intends to take regarding the maintenance of Salmi Road.
