Minister of Justice and State Minister for National Assembly Affairs Faleh Al-Azeb has endorsed the report of the Supreme Committee tasked to review the proposal to amend the DNA law in order to exempt a number of categories, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Sources said the amended version of the law stipulates exempting many categories from the requirement to submit DNA samples like military men, as well as those involved in State security and terrorism cases, among others. Sources disclosed the proposal states that DNA samples should be taken from these individuals only if a permit is obtained from the Public Prosecution.

Sources added the government will soon approve the amendments which will be referred to the National Assembly for voting.
