A parliamentary committee Sunday urged world's football governing body, FIFA, to lift ban on Kuwait sport for six months until issue of a new law meeting international demands but did not contradict with constitution.

The Youth and Sport Committee, in a letter to FIFA, said recent elections in the State of Kuwait and formation of a new government would pave way for changes to sport-related laws to comply with the Olympic Charter and bylaws of the international sport federations.

It said it was assigned by the parliament to write a new sport law within two months, and then invite the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to discuss the draft law before referring it to the house.

The committee hoped FIFA would consider the request and affirmed that "the National Assembly was sincerely working to lift the sport ban on the State of Kuwait."
