Al Qabas is a Kuwaiti , Daily , Political , Comprehensive Newspaper. It was founded in 1976 by Khaled Yousif Al-Marzouq , May Allah Have Mercy On His Soul It was first issued in Al-Sharq area. Mr. Nasser Abdul-Aziz Al-Marzouq chaired it in 1978. In 1979, Alanba was moved to Alsahafa Street in Al-Shuwaikh area. Alanba was chaired, until 1995, by Waleed Yousif Al-Marzouq, May Allah Have Mercy On Him. He was followed by Miss Bibi Khalid Yousif Al-Marzouq until 2009. From February 8th 2009 it was chaired by Mr. Yousif Khalid Yousif Al-Marzouq. It is still carrying on with its responsibility towards the future. In mid-June 1976 , few months after its launch, its offices in Al-Sharq area were targeted by a bomb by enemies of free expression. On March 3rd 1987 publication was suspended for a week by court order in what was a legal precedent. In 1987, Alanba became the top newspaper in Kuwait, a status it enjoyed until the vicious Iraqi occupation in 1990. On August 15th 1990 and throughout the vicious Iraqi occupation its publication was moved to Cairo upon orders from its proprietor Khalid Yusif Al-Marzooq, May He Rest In Peace. It became, at his own expense, the voice of Kuwait and its people in exile. Publication continued until August 15th 1991. It resumed publication in liberated Kuwait on September 21st 1991. Publication was suspended again on March 15th 1995 because of its bold reporting. During 35 years, Alanba issued many supplements, including: The Wednesday supplement in 1992, the Faith supplement in 1992, the Crime News supplement in 1994, and many others. Today, Alanba continues its success through a comprehensive innovation process in its logo, editing and marketing to ensure its leading position. This was well-reflected in the increased pages, the number of subscribers, its comprehensive coverage and the boldness and credibility of reporting local, regional, Arab and world news. Today it is, according to surveys and research, one of the three most circulated newspapers in Kuwait. With the trust of its readers, and through editing, marketing and publicity strategies, it is advancing towards the leading position. May Allah have mercy on the soul of its founder and proprietor, Khalid Yusif Al-Marzooq, who took upon himself the trust of Kuwait and was true to his promise. Alanba will remain one of his great achievements and accomplishments.
